RIPE NCC LIR sponsorship

How ASN Sponsorship Works

A clear view of the application process, what you receive, and where SKNK's responsibilities end and yours begin.

  1. Place your order and provide documents

    Submit your legal-entity details and the documents required for the RIPE NCC application, then sign the Sponsoring LIR Agreement and complete payment.

  2. SKNK reviews the application

    We check that the submission is complete, prepare the application, and keep you informed through your private status link.

  3. RIPE NCC independently reviews it

    SKNK submits the completed application to RIPE NCC. RIPE NCC makes the independent allocation decision under its policies and may request further information.

  4. Receive your ASN and IPv6 PA /48

    After RIPE NCC approval, you receive your ASN and IPv6 PA /48 allocation details. These resources can then be used with an upstream that supports your intended BGP setup.

  5. SKNK maintains the PA-prefix ROA

    Because the PA /48 comes from Provider Aggregatable address space held by SKNK's LIR, SKNK controls RPKI authority for the resource and creates, maintains, and withdraws the associated Route Origin Authorization (ROA).

Clear responsibilities

SKNK handles
LIR sponsorship, application preparation and submission, ASN and PA-prefix administration, and creation, maintenance, and withdrawal of the allocated PA prefix's ROA.
You handle
Your BGP configuration, upstream-provider relationships, routing policy, and day-to-day network operation. SKNK does not provide managed BGP or routing services.
